Sawmiller's Cottage, Barrington Tops |
757 Allyn River Road |
| Inviting self-cater Cottage on 120 acres |
Rolling hills, tranquil countryside, fresh air - all the simple pleasures.
This cottage was once used as a residence for the owner/manager of a sawmill, (eco-friendly of course!) and is located on a working beef cattle property in the Allyn river valley.
The Allyn valley runs through the rolling hills making up the southern slopes of the magnificent World Heritage listed Barrington Tops National Park. It is the smallest of the three southern river valleys, (Paterson, Allyn, & Williams) and its central location between the other valleys makes it arguably the hidden "gem".
Allynbrook is especially well sited for you to enjoy the features of the area. You can be here in approximately 2½ hours from Sydney via the F3 freeway, Maitland, Paterson, Gresford - (all on tar sealed roads). See map (insert).
Once here, YOU ARE:
• within minutes of three boutique wineries with welcoming cellar doors & a good range of prize winning varietals & blends.
• a short drive to Lostock Dam on the Paterson river - ideal for those who wish to wet a keel or line.
• a short drive to Barrington Tops rainforests. Bring your walking shoes and take the scenic bushwalking trails. Gaze forever from spectacular lookouts & enjoy the abundant bush animals - how many have seen a pademelon?
• a short drive to Allyn River & Mount Royal State forests. These forests have a range of 4X4 trails for those who leave "larger" footprints.
• a short scenic drive to historical towns, (Gresford, Paterson, Dungog) offering museums & galleries, local crafts, licensed clubs, hotels & eateries.
• encouraged to explore the "Orange Grove" property and take advantage of our Allyn river frontage to swim, or perhaps just sit and listen to the river still time.
And WHEN YOU HAVE DONE ALL THIS you will find:
• a well appointed kitchen & BBQ if you wish to "eat in". Fresh air does wonders for the appetite!
• a tiled bathroom & 2 toilets - all linen & towels supplied.
• large verandas to enjoy the twilight over the hills, recount your adventures and perhaps savour some of the local vintage.
• a large comfortable lounge room with TV, video - (for those who are addicted) CD player and radio.
• four tastefully appointed bedrooms to rest your weary head & sweeten your dreams.
• reverse cycle air conditioning.
JUST BECAUSE
Just because you are in the country doesn't mean you have to miss out on the comforts. A comfortable restaurant is just seven kilometres away at The Hotel Beatty. Licensed clubs & takeaways at Gresford & Dungog add to your choices. For those with still more energy, Dungog even has a golf course. Those with less energy may care to visit the Dungog picture theatre, (open weekends) and reputed to be the oldest still operating in NSW!
